Fees and insurance

What it costs, and how to find out.

I quote the fee before anything is booked, so nothing later is a surprise. The first phone call costs nothing and carries no obligation.

Therapy

Sessions run about 45 minutes by phone or video. You can work in a short focused block of three sessions used as you need them, or continue at whatever frequency suits the work. I will tell you which I think fits after the first conversation, and you are not committed to a course of anything.

Insurance

Ask me when we speak and you will get a straight answer about your specific plan. Where I am out of network, I can provide a superbill, which is an itemized receipt with the diagnostic and procedure codes your insurer needs. You submit it and they reimburse you directly if your plan covers out-of-network behavioral health.

Two things worth knowing before you call your insurer. Ask specifically about "out-of-network outpatient mental health" and what percentage they reimburse after the deductible. And ask whether telehealth is covered at the same rate, because a few plans still treat it differently.

Support animal assessments

Priced separately from therapy, because the work is different. The fee covers the clinical evaluation, the sessions across the 30-day period California requires, the documentation itself, and completing your housing provider's own verification form afterwards at no extra charge.

These assessments are frequently not a covered insurance benefit. Therapy more often is.

Why there is no price on a letter

Because the letter is not the product. If I charged for the document, I would have an interest in producing one, and you could never be sure the answer you got was clinical. The fee covers the assessment, and an assessment can conclude that documentation is not justified. That has to be a real possibility for the rest of it to mean anything.

What is included either way

  • The first conversation, which costs nothing.
  • A clear fee quoted before you book.
  • My clinical judgment, including when it is not what you were hoping for.
  • A superbill on request where I am out of network.

Ask what it would cost

No obligation and no card details. Tell me the situation and I will tell you the fee and whether an appointment is even the right step.
